Firstly, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful festive period, and are ready and raring to start off 2019 on the right foot.
My New Year’s resolution for this coming year is to really putting more effort into my photography, so be prepared to see more posts on my blog this year!
Let’s start this year off as we mean to go on, with an updated blog post. Now, in a way this may be considered cheating, as the photographs I am posting here today were taken before Christmas/New Year.
I wanted to practice setting up scenes and working on close-up photography. My chosen subjects were coffee and, somewhat randomly, pistachio nuts! I just wanted to see what I could do with supplies that I already have in my home.
My set up consisted simply of my dinner table, a slate floor tile as the base, a black sheet as the background, my tripod and camera. I used macro extension rings to enhance the macro aspect of these photos, and help get as much detail as possible in each shot.
Using my tripod with a remots shutter release, I managed to get a few shots that I was really happy with! The coffee shots in particular make me feel rather warm and cosy (depsite being a tea-drinker and not coffee!!.
Here are a selection of my favourite photos from the shoot:
I purchased a few sample floor tiles in various colours and textures to try out, so I have quite a few options to work with in future shoots. I just need to work on various backgrounds.
I would appreciate any feedback on these photos, and would also love to hear from you about how your Christmas and New Year was and if you have any resolutions for the year ahead.
